ABOUT

Surrealistic animals, allegorical scenes and hybrid concepts come to life through acrylics, aerosols, markers, graphite and ephemera in Drew Ferneyhough’s multidisciplinary artwork. Starting in gothic ballpoint pen drawings in high school, Drew began drawing designs for local bands he was playing with before turning his sights on expanding his practice. In 2010, he graduated with Distinction as a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Ontario College of Art & Design, Toronto, majoring in Drawing & Painting, with an additional double minor in Art History and Material Art & Design.

As of 2023, he is currently apprenticing at Anthony Jamieson Design Studio, learning and employing the techniques of architectural glass to create custom doors and windows with a stylistic influence, ranging from hyper-realism to landscape to Art Nouveau. Notably, between 2023-2024, the team of only 3 created 80+ custom architectural glass windows for The Atlantic Restaurant, Universal Studios Epic Universe, Orlando, Florida.

Drew lives and works out of Mayne Island, BC, where he has been co-proprietor of EnVision Gallery & Gifts since 2015, consistently representing around 75 artists from the Southern Gulf Islands, Vancouver Island and BC's West Coast.
He has also often been employed as a graphic designer and illustrator, creating logos and print media for organizations from British Columbia to Ontario. He and his macaw, Wynnifred, can often be found near one of Mayne Island's beaches, collecting shells and rocks to use as canvases, watching the ocean, and playing music.
